Applied Nano-Optics
Discovering the optical materials of the future.
What we do
We focus on the discovery of new materials that will power tomorrow’s photonic and quantum technologies. By moving beyond the small set of optical materials used today, our work lays the foundation for next-generation advances in light-based science and technology.
- Searching for better materials: We apply computational methods to discover new optical materials and experimentally assess their potential for new optical applications.
- Nano-optics meets 2D materials: We integrate 2D materials with optical materials to create new functionalities.
- Flat metalenses: We develop new design principles for metalenses for manipulating incoherent light.
We take advantage of the excellent 2DTU lab facilities in the 2DPHYS section to synthesize, characterize, and fabricate optical nanostructures and metasurfaces. We complement our local labs with the tools available at DTU Nanolab, especially the use of DTU's state-of-the-art cleanroom and electron microscopes.
