Together with colleagues from the UltraBat consortium researchers from the 4DMAP section are setting up to conduct a series of experiments at the SACLA X-ray Free Electron Laser in Japan. Over the next few days the team will measure the ultrafast (picoseconds!) structural response to electron injection in next-generation battery materials, to determine the fundamental physical phenomena governing and limiting the charging/discharging properties of these technological materials.
